The Awakening of the Headless Horseman by Edith Baeza Avila

In an innocent city where the supernatural occurs, two witnesses discover and unravel the mystery behind the summoning of a demon that wants to end humanity and erupt devastation in the world. Little by little these two witnesses; protectors of the world, discover aspect of clues that lead them to the awakening of the headless Horseman. A connection is seen between the Horseman and one of the witnesses; Ichabod Crane, the resurrection of both of them in the same time. Currently now, there is a second season continuing this year revealing more details of the coming of the apocalypse.
Sleepy Hollow is a series of mystery, supernatural, police drama and slightly a shift of comedy that will make you want to watch all the season at once. The first season aired on September 16, 2013- which could have been caught on Mondays at eight o’ clock. This show was forecast on Fox Network (on channel ten for any kind of cable). Usually premiering every fall as of last year in 2013. In these series, there are two protagonist-the witness, Ichabod Crane and Lt. Abbie Mills. Ichabod Crane was a soldier and spy that served in the Colonial Army as of General George Washington’s era. Lt. Abbie Mills is a police that investigates the supernatural and killings of people, in which is brought together with Ichabod Crane after her partner and mentor, police Corbin’s assassination.
Sleepy Hollow revolves around the determination of the two witnesses to suspend the becoming of Moloch’s; the demon, war into the Earth. Like I previously stated, Ichabod Crane was a soldier in the 18th century and fought what once was the headless Horseman-another soldier covering his face with an iron bridle mask. Killing both of each other at the same time, Ichabod Crane and the other soldier, which soon his identity would be discovered, fall down causing their blood to fuse in the battle field. Bringing their triumph back to the 21st century, Crane teams up with Abbie Mills solving the mystery of the return of the headless Horseman and also Ichabod Crane himself. Because Crane is from the 18th century, his presence helps Abbie Mills define historical events in the past to discover hints to the headless Horseman future plans.
The first season mostly told the presence or story of who the headless Horseman was and why he was in the city of Sleepy Hollow. The only reason that Crane survived was because of a secret spell cast by Katrina Crane; Crane’s wife who was a witch, once Crane was harshly wounded by the soldier form of the Horseman. The series is told in chronological order and stories of the past is inserted to view the present day better and the connections between Crane and the Horseman. The connection between them is that they both loved Katrina and were once best friends. Something that the Horseman (Abraham Van Brunt) could not understand and made a deal with Moloch, becoming one of the four horseman of the apocalypse after realizing the truth among Katrina’s and Crane’s love. Moloch captured Katrina into his world and could only communicate with Crane in his dreams. Crane later on discovered that he had a son; Henry, that did not know existed and realized at the end of the season, when his son turned up and betrayed him. Abbie also has a connection with Moloch, which is that her and her sister- Jenny Mills, when they were adolescents, they saw four white trees that represented the four Horseman of war- then fainting. Wakening up in the police station, Abbie neglects what she saw but her sister does not, which then Jenny is taken to an asylum. Lastly, at the end of the season, Abbie is caught by Moloch and Katrina is out in Earth, where she then is caught by the headless Horseman and Crane is sent underground, buried alive.
Currently now is the second season of Sleepy Hollow, which premiered on September 22, 2014 on channel ten. This season focuses more on Henry and his plans to unleash Moloch into the world. Then a new guy is brought in- Hawley; a person who looks for ancient treasures and then sells it to a client. Except that his client is no other than Henry, but Hawley does not know. Mysteries are solved due to Crane’s ability in the past, which makes him stronger in the modern day of Earth.
Sleepy Hollow concentrated on the Horseman acts and killing spree of people, but not in the second season. Hello, what just happened? In season one it told how Henry was Katrina and Crane’s son and was left for dead, but one thing this season did not explain well was how Henry ended up siding with Moloch. This conclusion was not drawn upon very well and it leaves many of our minds wondering: How? Why? Or in what moment? Furthermore, as I mentioned previously- Hawley is a new guy in which his story behind Jenny Mills is not told specifically. In other words, at what moment did Jenny and Hawley ever meet, if supposedly most of Jenny’s life was devoted in the asylum. How is there a history between them, this is not represented clearly- something that the second season lacks at this moment. Perhaps their history may be told later on in the series, but in the meantime it is buried in our minds until answered.

Besides all the negativity, there are some fun and positive thought for Sleepy Hollow. These series are interesting to watch and wait for, since it gives brief education of the past; historical events. Crane being from the 18th century and into the modern world helps establish a communication of what the reason for something in the past could have been or caused for. Where it leaves the viewer hypothesizing the outcome of a reason presented among that moment. Season one may impale many questions, but it is a very entertaining television program to watch and refresh our minds with historical events in an interesting enthusiastic way.
