Capturing a Moment and Pressing the Share Button by Berenice Guzman

Social media has overtaken today’s society so much that it has changed the way we communicate with people on a daily basis. Around the world, people utilize web pages such as Facebook, Skype, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest and Instagram to upload statuses, blogs and simply share moment’s, thoughts and pictures.  Instagram on one hand, entices many people that are fascinated with photography. With the simple steps of taking a photograph, editing it, and uploading it for their followers to scroll through, it easily allows for users to express their artwork through a social media where others can encounter the picture and press the like button if they like the composition.
Launched in 2010, Instagram was made with the purpose to share photographs online in one’s profile. Although many people have created selfies and relatable hashtags that add creativity to the picture itself, it is still a place where someone could create a professional account and promote their businesses or share a love for photography in a social media. Not only is it to upload profile pictures along with inspirational quotes and captions, but when exploring the site you encounter several of things. For example, when exploring different accounts on the web site you could come across other friends and family’s account which allow for you to follow to be notified when they post picture on your timeline and it lets people be connected in that form. Not only that but there are many public account that will share pictures of tutorials and different ideas that allow people to take and try themselves. This makes it more interesting to scroll down when you’re bored and just want to look at pictures.
With a rapid growing technology based community the founders of Instagram, CEO Kevin Systrom, and co-founder Mike Krieger, both graduates of Stanford University, have become successful by creating this accessible page for people around the world of all ages to use. It has become well known around the world and is allowing for unique people to post pictures of their lives in a community where everyone else is doing the same thing. It’s accessible on a phone and tablet by the app Instagram or by going online to Instagram.com.
This type of media is being used so much that it allows for people to connect with the world through photos. Its show the persons daily activities as well as places they’ve been by the photos that are shared. Not only does it allow for people to showcase their pictures but it allows them to get feedback through comments and the number of likes a certain photograph gets. Friends can also upload pictures and tag others within the same picture, which would be a little pop out that demonstrates who’s who. It’s an easy way to share photos that are just occupying storage in your cameral roll for no one else to see, and allow others to see them as well. It’s rather awesome how people can look at you photographs and people could notice them, it demonstrates who you are there the pictures that you share.
It has been stated that a picture is worth a thousand words because when a picture is taken it show a story plot within in it, where people can feel something towards it, where it grasps their attention or they simply question it and look at it in awe. This is what photography can do, and with the use of Instagram many people can see pictures that they can relate to and share with their friends to have a laugh.

Although many adults look at it as a negative aspect in society within a teenager’s life and something that causes distraction, it is a place where scrolling through the newsfeed can bring back memories. It allows for people to stay connected and it’s easy to handle and allows for people to get a hold of each other, even by the Instagram messenger. And just like Facebook, Twitter and all the other social medias that people have, Instagram allows users to make their profile private so that if they want to keep their information to be kept safe and only accessible for their friends, it’s doable. So grab a camera take a picture and if you like it, edit it, add a caption to it, or even add a video and share it with your friends list to enjoy it as well.
