“Who wants to go waste
their time hiking, being in dirt and looking at nothing but trees?” That is what
I used to think about hiking before I actually experiencing hiking. Although I believed
that hiking was a waste of time and meaning less, after joining the hiking club
I learned a thing or two about the values and purpose in hiking and how to have
fun with it. My view on hiking has changed totally, because I had so much fun
hiking and being outdoors.
On
Saturday of November fifteen two thousand fourteen I went on my first hiking
adventure with Trevor Browne high school hiking club to Payson on trial two
sixty. The trip was to be from six thirty am to three pm. Two days prior to the
trip we were warned to bring plenty of water, snacks, a jacket and hiking
shoes, or comforted tense shoes. It took two hours to get to Payson from Trevor
Browne and another two hour to get back to Trevor. 30 before reaching the hike
ground, all club members were asked to use the restroom and the same was done
when we reached the hike site. We paired up and went about the trail. As a
beginner I was abrogated to join with an experienced hiker.
Payson seems to be in the middle of nowhere, because the surrounding
environment were more trees and more mountains, yet trail two sixty has an
amazing view and is great to hike. The trail two sixty is also a great start
for beginners who had never hiked before, it’s not too complicated and its fun.
The trail id very clear the vivid. The
trailhead first start off with surrounding pine trees giving of shade. Than the
trail meanders into the forest with cooler breeze. Hiking to the top of the
mountain is the most difficult aspect of the hiking. When at the top of the
mountain, there is an amazing view of green equally lined up pine trees. Later
after a short rest and sightseeing, heading down the mountain is the most
easiest to do. Although you do have to watch your speed and accretion coming down
the mountain, it is rather quicker coming down and less of a struggle. But the
air does feel brisk when hiking down.
All the challenges of the Payson hike was in
the steepness and narrowness of the trail. Two hikers cannot walk side by side.
Little improvements that could be made on trial 260 would be a wider path and
to make the trail straighter. Also the trail was not marked well, causing
experienced hikers and me to get lost for a brief moment. It is easy to start
off the wrong trail when heading down the mountain, there are three trails and
since the marking is poor it easy for a mix up in which trail to take back
down. Trail two sixty was is a military formed trail. The trail is very rough especially
coming down the mountain. Sometimes the trails were cut off by log or planted
carvel which was not broken down. This actually caused my returning group and
me to be lost for a brief moment, luckily the confusion happened near the end
of the trail and we were sooner able to see other members in the club, down at
the starting ground.
Over all, hike on trial 260 was very quick and
entertaining, although there were no visible animals but rather animal
droppings to gaze at, there were colorful trees and strange plants to see. Payson hiking site was beautiful full of changing
leaves and elevated views. It is worth the struggle getting up the mountains to
see the beauty held in nature.
In
conclusion the overall experience of the hiking on the Payson trail two sixty was
rewarding and worth it. The view at the top of the mountain is breath taking as
well as the once on ground level. Earth looked its most beautiful from such
high. Hiking is like working so hard for something and in the end it all pays
off. The struggle up the mountains pays off by the out stand views and green
living of the ecosystem. Exploring the Payson hike trail 260 was a nice
achievement for me. It made me to be able to push past my breaking point when
going up got stuff Ti also allowed me to enjoy the beauty of nature and breathe
in fresh air. The adventure of hiking was great and I can’t wait till the next
hike!
I
would recommend that beginner hikers start with an experienced partner and not
alone. And basically anyone who enjoy the outdoors.
